Thursday in the Mountains... June 30

Quiet Time...

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Dad was up :-)

Got him all situated, added a Breakfast Burrito and sat down with three of my crew...

Lanny joined us soon after...

Mitzi loves getting her head massage...

Then Max wanted his... we ALL missed Lanny.
I am glad he is home but I wish it had not been at the expense of the last two CentriKid days for those kids... but God always has a plan and for his Children, nothing is a surprise, nothing happens that isn't in His will...
He will use this event for His good and glory...

I got up to make the bed and they all just continued snoring :-)

Made the bed, fed the fur kids, started some laundry..
my sweet friend Betsy sent me a box FULL of clothes... she cleaned out her closet!
Well, everything fits, so now I have to let go of some of my older stuff to fit this all in the closet :-) a FUN chore. I washed some of the more wrinkled things and Lanny also brought home some dirty clothes from camp....

Headed out to take care of the birds...

Penny laid her egg right in the middle of the coop floor...
I am glad I got to it before the hens did... they often break and eat any that are not in the boxes... ducks lay on the floor... they don't do nest boxes... at least MY ducks don't :-)

I made Dad and Lanny a Sausage and Egg Omelet and some toast...

This is the comparison showing the first egg Amber laid and the successive three...

they are getting a tiny bit bigger every day...

Decanted the water kefir and took the berries to the birds!

Gabby is in the corner thinking about an egg :-)

Cucumber number two from my "garden"... not sure I can call it that.
It's just a collection of puny looking bushes compared to last years...

Aha! Gabby did it!!
Two duck eggs today!

We had the rest of the Egg and Bacon Salad Sandwiches for lunch...
YUM!!!

We rested after lunch... I don't "nap" when Lanny is not home so this was nice!!!
Sitting AND being with him...

A Pearl White, Goldie, Willow AND Amber...
it is still pretty tiny compared especially to Willow...
They are both Easter Eggers so Ambers egg should catch up eventually...

Lanny continues to work on the hot water heater..

I don't know how he knows how to do all this stuff!

Strange combo tonight... I wanted some White Beans
and then one of my Beef jars didn't seal
so I ended up making Beef and Egg Noodles, the White Beans and Spinach
with Garlic Bread...
Actually it was pretty darn good :-)
Brownies for Dessert!

Lanny picked up the landmines :-)
Paula and I cleaned up the kitchen.
I put the chicken feeders away...

I am soaking 5 pounds of pintos over night
because tomorrow I am going to can them!!!
I am on a roll!!!
I love to have pintos on hand and usually have quarts in the freezer,
but from now on I am going to can them...

Last night we started Left Behind...
one of our favorite series...
Tonight, part 2...

Goodnight Y'all!
God bless and Sweet Dreams...

Wednesday in the Wood... June 29

Quiet Time...

“So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.”

Daddy was not up...

I got everything ready except for the Breakfast Croissant...

And I sat down with Maggie and Murphy...

Dad didn't get up until around 5:45
so I was actually just finished with my Quiet Time...
Maggie was really cuddling with Murph
but I think she thought it was my leg :-)

Got Dad situated, made the bed and started a batch of stew beef
in the InstaPot for canning...

I'll undercook it a bit so that when I can it in the pressure canner it will be just right...

Fed the fur kids and headed out to the birds...

Yay!!! Another Penny egg... I'll keep checking for Gabby...
it's usually not far behind...

Yep, both ducks laid today...
you can really see the difference...

Made Dad an Egg, Bacon and Cheese Omelet with Toast...

Another Water Lily... so pretty!

A Pearl White...

Another Pearl White and Goldie...

And Coconut is working on a pink one :-)

Seven Pints of Stew Beef!!!

For lunch I made Dad a Ham Sandwich one a Hawaiian Roll...
he likes that...
Mom and Paula went to the Dermatologist so Mom skipped lunch....

After the beef finished I canned the juices from the InstaPot...
it will be great for making gravy...
Seven Pints of Beef Drippings/Juices!!

Yay!! a Coconut egg AND Ambers' little Olive one...
it is still pretty small but I think they will get bigger...

Opal sprawling in the sun...
they like sunbathing about as much as dust bathing!!

I also started a Ginger Bug yesterday to make some different carbonated drinks...
I have to feed it every day for about a week as it ferments...
I'll let you know how this project turns out...
you can add it to any fruit juice and allow it to ferment a bit
and you will have a refreshing slightly carbonated summer drink!

Supper was just the three of us so I made us
some Egg and Bacon Salad Sandwiches
with Applesauce and Graham Cracker for Dessert...

Lanny and the CentriKid group are on their way home two days early :-(
One of the kids wasn't feeling well and tested positive for Covid
so they all are coming home...
Pray that Lanny does not get sick again... all of us probably will if he does.
Not worried about the two of us but Mom and Dad are more threatened...

Gave the birds some nice, cold lettuce...
they like lettuce and if it's cold it cools them off on a hot afternoon...

The Baby Bluebird is probably getting to the age that I cannot open the box anymore... I wouldn't want him to jump and fall out...
he is growing nicely and Momma and Daddy were fussing at me when I peeked in :-)

I put their food away and gave them some clean, cold water...
The fish are enjoying this summer evening...
Look how BIG that big boy is!!!

I picked up the puppy piles, cleaned up the kitchen
and will finish this up and get my jammies on...

Lanny should be home by 6... they were in Somerset Ky at 3,
but he will take Sadie home and they will unload the busses
so it may be a bit later than that...

I missed him but I wish they could have stayed the five days. The kids LOVE the last day when they do OMC (Organized, Mass Chaos!)...
that is the fun highlight of the trip. But Lanny said God showed up big time
and they had ALL already been blessed beyond words!!!

We may get to sit down on the couch and watch a movie tonight...
maybe we will keep our distance but I doubt it will be 6 feet!!

Goodnight Y'all...
God bless and Sweet Dreams!
