A Day in the Life / Sunday, the last day of February

Quiet Time....

“But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was.”

‭‭James‬ ‭1:22-24‬

*****

Maggie is by me, Murphy in his "hollow", Max in Lanny's lap and Mitzi on the bench in front of the fire (which just went off, but it will come back on any minute)...

We spent our usual 90 minutes in Quiet Time...
I finished up the inside chores - Dad, meds, beds, dogs, and cat...
then I headed out to take care of the ducks and chicks...

It was quite warm! The frogs were singing up a storm...literally, it seams :-)

After the outside chores I came in to get ready for church...
we still have to go in early for Ensemble Practice...

I love my drive to church...not only do we have a beautiful driveway, Paula's horses on the right side in the pasture, woods on the left...then my first view at the bottom of our driveway is our neighbors pasture with lots of beautiful horses... a little further on and Little Ponderosa Zoo pastures their large herd of Shetlands and also the three bulls...Tuck and Oreo in this photo...the big buffalo looking cow was not in this shot :-) ...

...then I drive by several pastures full of Momma Cows and Calves, donkeys and chickens and ducks, a few turkey and even some peacocks...
I LOVE living in the country!

Then I pull in to Calvary Baptist...

Pastor Steve and Faye went to visit their daughter Kara in Florida so we had a visiting pastor... he had a very good message for out time...

Came home and made hamburgers for Sunday Lunch...

Molly wasn't feeling well but Rob ate with us...

...and ate, and ate...he LOVES to eat...and I LOVE to cook for him!

After lunch and dishes, I fed the firkids...

...then we took our short Sunday afternoon nap...

Lanny took care of the Puppy Landmines...

...and then he headed back to church...

I went out between the showers and played in the yard a little while...
I am SO anxious to start gardening...

So, the ducks and chicks are in bed...I am watching Episode 6 of The Next Generation...I think I'll go put on my jammies and watch Episode 7 and wait for Lanny to get home...we may (or may not) watch a movie tonight...we shall see...

Goodnight Y'all...
God bless us, one and all...

A Day in the Life / Saturday, February 27

Quiet Time....

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭9:10

*****

Max is back in his spot...

Nice, quiet, normal morning...inside chores all done...heading out to the fowl kids...

Nice morning...a little damp, but warm enough for shirt sleeves :-)

Three eggs...

The fur kids know how to spend a morning...

We headed down the hill at 7:45 for our usual Saturday morning date...
Hoskins Drug Store!

We stopped at the Anderson County Coop, which is right there beside Hoskins and bought some garden seed and some bird seed...they have a 50 pound bag of Safflower Seed for the same price I pay for 20 pounds somewhere else...

I bought lots of edible garden seeds as well, but we are excited to plant some ornamental lovelies to do some crafty things with...we may try our hand at the flea market...who knows...My sister is a true artist and could make something fabulous out of dust bunnies, so I have every confidence that she will come up with some very cute ideas... Lanny is very creative as well...we've got this!!

Mitzi has not been happy with the weather so spent the day in Granny's bed...

We ate tuna sandwiches for lunch and then snoozed for an hour on the couch...

Maggie was under the cover in my lap, Murphy beside me, Mitzi beside Lanny and Max in his lap...our pack!

We had Shrimp, Buttered Noodles with Garlic and Broccoli...YUMMY!

Lanny Scooped Poo and I put the chicks and ducks to bed...I am clean, jammied, and ready for tonights movie...Lanny is in the shower...the pups are waiting...

We watched Dunkirk last night...a little slow and hard to understand in spots with the accents and music (and we are a little hard of hearing...go figure), but it was a true story so quite interesting...
We also bought American Sniper so that may be on the screen tonight...
I'll let you know...

Goodnight Y'all...
God bless the USA!!!

A Day in the Life / Friday, February 26

Quiet Time....

“But the Lord is faithful, and He will strengthen and protect you from the evil one.”

‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭3:3‬

*****
Quiet, peaceful, "normal" morning...very nice...

We had the usual Bible Study Buddies...

And then Murphy moved to the "warm" spot...

and Maggie spread out on my warm spot when I left...

Took care of the usual morning chores and then headed out to open the fowl flood gates...honestly, they "pour" out of the coop and duck hut like a little flood!

Not real cold, but you can tell the rain is coming...

...and we have a gorgeous first gardenia bloom...the bush is covered with buds so I am anxious to see this display!

Lanny is determined to do better with his diabetes...we just weren't being as diligent as we need to be...

He had an appointment at Cheyenne Center this morning for some kind of heart scan and had to leave around 10:30...

...it started raining so Mitzi was having her shake quake (she hates weather, even if it isn't thundering)...

...but rain, sleet, snow or hail or below freezing temps cannot keep our little jeweled buddies from visiting the feeder!

I made Fish Sticks, Macaroni and Cheese and Green Beans for dinner...very fancy :-) ...Mom has some mouth sores and it was perfect for her to eat without it hurting... and we all love each of those items, so it was yummy and therapeutic!

Lanny did the Potty Patrol and I put the fowl kids to bed...he is showering and I am waiting to see which movie is on the schedule for tonight...last night we watched Independence Day with Will Smith... I think we might watch a "new to us" movie we bought yesterday...Dunkirk...I think it is supposed to be a true story... I will let you know.

God bless you all, and to all a
Goodnight!

A Day in the Life / Thursday, February 25

Quiet Time.....

“Iron sharpens iron, So one man sharpens another.”

‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭27:17‬

*****
NOT the usual morning...at 10 o'clock last night Daddy insisted that he needed to go to the ER... we tried to talk him out of it - we felt it was probably just a panic attack, but at 10:47 the ambulance drove up...better safe than sorry...they took him to Methodist and we stayed here to wait for a call from the doctors. So at around 3 the call came...all tests were excellent, EKG, chest Xray, lab work, scans...discharged! "Come pick him up..."

So at 3:30 I headed for the hospital...

They sent him home with a prescription for Prednisone...
Acute Exacerbation of COPD with asthma...
We got him settled in...

So, at 4:30 we were sitting on the couch with our pups and our Bibles,
slightly sleepy :-)

I managed to stay awake, but not so my Sweetie...
he is a LOT older than me tho... ha!

I had to run Mitzi off our bed so I could make it up...she was very dejected...

Since Daddy went right to bed when we got home I didn't have to do anything for him..

Pretty nice weather this morning...
Chicks and Ducks came out raring to go!

We had to go down early to get Dad's prescription filled...
Passed our favorite sights...

We had to wait for 45 minutes for the prescription to be filled so by the time we left we noticed the Valvoline store by Krogers was open...our oil change was due so we pulled in... turned out to be the best oil change experience we have ever had...we will never go anywhere else!!!

Great employees, very professional, it was a real pleasure!

Eddie took the best care of us...

...along with Darius (the store manager)...

... and someone else under the car...we had so much fun watching them work!!

We needed a new battery and wiper blades...

Then we came home and got the truck so we could pick up some compost at Willow Ridge...
we are trying the no dig method...cardboard down first, lots of raw materials (in our case spent hay and soil) and the mushroom compost... thick!

And voila! Ready for planting...

We had left over Buddy's BBQ for supper...

Lanny did the Potty Patrol, I put the fowl kids to bed and we are settling down to watch Independence Day...

Daddy has slept most of the day and ate very little dinner so say a prayer for him...he is just getting tired...I guess at 91 he is entitled, but it is hard to watch...

Goodnight Y'all,
God bless us, one and all!!
