Thursday on the Farm... July 7

Quiet Time..
.
"There is that scattereth, and yet increaseth;
And there is that withholdeth more than is meet, but it tendeth to poverty.
Proverbs 11:24 KJV

*****
Daddy was up...
Made him a couple Biscuit Roll Ups to go with his coffee and morning meds...

Then we sat down for our NOT so Quiet Time... it was storming, and raining loud and hard, and Mitzi was having a "meltdown"... she shakes, pants, coughs...
I think I may need to get her something from the vet...it is getting worse with age.
She has always been terrified of noises (fireworks, guns, loud machinery)
AND especially storms, but she is physically affected even more these days...
poor girl...

I made the bed, fed all the fur kids EXCEPT Mitzi,
she went to Moms room and hid under her bed...
Then I headed out to the birds...
I waited until there was a lull in the rain...

No duck eggs first thing,
but a little later in the morning there was one Pearl White...

And Ambers' tiny egg...

AND, Gabby finally laid hers...

Dad slept til 9:30 after his first breakfast
so Lanny ate some fruit and yogurt and I gave Dad one of his cake donuts...
then for lunch we had Grilled Cheese Sandwiches...

And Lanny and I sat down for a rest/snooze...

I haven't taken many pics today...
when it rains heavy and for very long (we got three inches FAST),
our drainfield floods so the lines back up and there is no toilet flushing
or using the kitchen sink...
I think I am going to have Lanny gray water the kitchen sink and dishwasher.
The shower and the clothes washer are gray water...
it is really hard to do much of anything when you cannot use your kitchen sink...
Once the rain stops it works itself out, but sometimes that takes HOURS!!!

So today has been a rather odd sort of day...
I sorted some drawers and rearranged my fermenting and canning supplies
to make them more convenient.

OH!!! and I ordered a new All American Canner Model 930!!!
I am SO excited. My canner is older than Robbie (he is 52) and although it seems to work well, the gauge is wrong and it needs a gasket and the new All American does not ever need those things.... nothing really to go wrong with it.
I am definitely SO excited!!!!
It may be the end of July before the stock comes back in...
but I will try to be patient :-)

*****

For supper we had Baked Fish
and Broccoli Garlic Buttered Noodles.
Rolls and the few tomatoes out of our garden...
YUM!!

Lanny picked up the pup piles,
Paula and I cleaned up the kitchen,

Lanny is in the shower
and I am finishing this post...

We may start Season 2 of Picard...
but I will let you know tomorrow...

Goodnight, Sleep Tight...
and you know the rest :-)

God bless!!!
