A Day in the Life / Tuesday, December 8

Quiet Time....

“Rejoice in our confident hope. Be patient in trouble, and keep on praying.” - Romans‬ ‭12:12‬ ‭

*****

Morning is breaking...

I love our morning Quiet Time... it's still dark outside so the Christmas lights are really pretty...

It's Tuesday and we will be celebrating Lanny's and Danny's birthday tonight. I am serving Hot Dogs so not really much prep.

I ran the vacuum and Lanny knocked off several items from the "Honey Do" list...

After spending some time in the kitchen I went out to hunt down my hard working man...

He was working hard out in the South 40... he LOVES this sort of work :-)

Max is NOT amused when I ask to take his picture...

ALWAYS follow the directions when assembling your dog...I think this one is defective! :-)

...waiting for us to sit down and take a rest...

I am in my apron, working on chili and sit down to take just a slight rest...look who absolutely MUST sit in my lap!

Family Night photos will be a separate post...

So...dinner is over and we are more than full and in our Jammies and sitting here watching Santa Clause 2...did I tell you we watched number one last night? Well we did. And we are so full that there may not be a trip to the snack bar :-)

Goodnight Y'all...

Oh wait! I absolutely MUST show you this picture from last night...Max LOVES ice cream and he not leave Lanny alone...

A Day in the Life / Monday, December 7

Quiet Time...

“Such things were written in the Scriptures long ago to teach us. And the Scriptures give us hope and encouragement as we wait patiently for God’s promises to be fulfilled.” - Romans‬ ‭15:4‬ ‭

*****

When I go out before daybreak to get something out of one of the freezers in the common area I always get to see this little scene...it's very pretty and "Christmasy"...

Another cold morning...I guess it is to be expected :-) and no matter what the temperature is the chickens and ducks need to be tended...

Daddy had a morning appointment with the Foot and Arch Doctor so we headed out.

Little Ponderosa Zoo has fields all along the road below our hill and there is the cutest small bull out there...I asked James (the owner) what kind he is and turns out he is a miniature Zebu! When Lanny and I first saw him we said he looked like the Veggie Tale Cebu (it's a Silly Song in case you don't know)...The names are so close that I am sure the Veggie Tale writers used this little Zebu as their inspiration...

The Zebu gives about a gallon of milk per day vs the usual farm cows that produce around 5 gallons, so we may just look for one of these little beauties next spring.

After I brought Dad home Lanny and I went back down the hill for chicken feed and some things I forgot for tomorrow nights Family Dinner... we also stopped at Freddy's Steakburger and got us a burger combo...I ate ALL the fries and if you've ever been there you know they give you about three servings in that platter. Needless to say, I was not hungry for dinner.

I made some left over roast and gravy and fed Mom and Dad, Paula and Lanny some hot roast beef sandwiches...they looked yummy but I am still full!

So Lanny is in the shower, I am in my jammies and ready to snuggle on the couch with the "pack"... I'll let you know our feature film choice tomorrow...

Goodnight Y'all...

A Day in the Life / Sunday, December 6

Quiet Time....

Sunday!

"Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:" - John 11:25

*****

Three little angels waiting patiently while we were at church..this was on the pet cam...

Another uncommon shot of them ALL eating at the same time.

The pack watching Muppet Christmas Carol...

Sunday's are quiet, easy days usually, so we went to church, came home to Sunday Dinner (I made Chicken Breasts and Normandy Veggies), took a little nap and Lanny headed back for evening service.

I watched a few Star Trek episodes and worked on a video for Martha (I filmed Franks funeral), and when Lanny came home we watched "Muppet Christmas Carol".

Oh, last night we watched Donovan's Reef with John Wayne...we have it in our Christmas movie list because it happens at Christmas :-)

Goodnight Y'all...

A Day in the Life / Saturday, December 5

Quiet Time...

“But to all who believed Him and accepted Him, He gave the right to become children of God.” - John‬ ‭1:12‬

*****

The puppies love mornings about as much as we do...

...and kitty too :-)

*****
After the morning chores and as soon as it opened at 8am, we headed to Hoskins Drug Store in Clinton...we had our first breakfast there, but it certainly won't be our last. This was a morning date for us...just the two of us...

Hoskins has been around for a very long time and it still looks the same...it is so charming and friendly and the breakfast was SO good...just like old times....

We went to Food City after breakfast for a few things and headed back home... I checked on the dogs with my pet cam and found them exactly where I wanted them,,,

...all waiting patiently on the couch!

Lanny finished insulating the pipes and I piddled in the kitchen for a while...I made hot roast beef sandwiches and mashed potatoes for supper...

...so we are again full, warm, dry, in our jammies, and ready for a movie. Last night we watched "The Nativity", a very favorite Christmas time movie. Lanny will surprise me with another tonight and I will let you know tomorrow. We bought some Snickerdoodle popcorn today and I cannot wait to try it...

Goodnight Y'all....

A Day in the Life / Friday, December 4

Quiet Time...

"For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given: and the government shall be upon His shoulder: and His name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Happy Birthday number 74 to my sweet hubby!!!

He had a full compliment of furry well wishers for his birthday!
Even Skipper joined us on the couch this morning...

After our morning Quiet Time I take care of Dad and then head to our room to make the bed...well, Max had other plans. He had snuggled up under the cover on my side of the bed, with his head on my pillow...

"What.....?"

And then I looked out the kitchen window and saw my little buddy on the feeder...this little guy is tough, that's all I can say!

We kinda celebrated Lanny's birthday last night by eating our favorite meal at the Olive Garden, so not much planned for today. He went out with his brother hunting a printer and I took Mom to the doctor...exciting stuff!!

Maggie couldn't get Max to get out of her spot so she had to share...but after a while he decided he'd go to HIS favorite spot...

He looks like a Christmas decoration...so handsome...

*****
We had Buttered Spinach Noodles and Garlic Shrimp for supper and, as usual, we are full and dressed in our bed clothes and ready for our evening...snuggled on the couch...

All our fur-kids are ready and waiting to see what is on the big screen tonight...

Goodnight Y'all....

A Day in the Life / Thursday, December 3

Quiet Time...

“When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.” - ‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:2‬ ‭

******

Lovely morning...very cold! But I DID remember to put the heater in the duck pond and use the heated bucket :-)

The ducks and chickens were ready for food and water!

I filled the hummingbird feeder and within a few minutes a little male came to drink...I read that many stay here in East Tennessee thru the winter, and sure enough, here he is! I am amazed that he can even fly in 23 degree weather! Look closely, he is on the right side of the feeder...

Willie thought he would show off a little for the ducks...I don't think they were impressed...

Max likes his little blanket bed on the bench outside the back door...that is just in case he doesn't come in before lights out at night...

Paula and Shelly are working on the chimney for her wood stove... it's gonna be so cozy warm!

Luke the barn cat is getting pretty round...we are hoping that his belly is full of mice and rats!!

Lanny worked on the insulation and I made some supper for Mom and Dad and Paula so we could go down the hill and grab Sadie and take her to Costco...she needed a coat AND she needed to see her friend Al...he has watched her grow up since she was in a baby carrier...

...this is an older picture of Sadie and Al...now with masks and barriers I cannot get a good one...

After shopping we went to Olive Garden! It was SO yummy...it had been so long since we'd been.

Now we are full, bathed, in our jammies and ready for part 2 of
"The Ten Commandments"...

Goodnight Y'all!...

A Day in the Life / Wednesday, December 2

Quiet Time...

“God saved you by His grace when you believed. And you can’t take credit for this; it is a gift from God. Salvation is not a reward for the good things we have done, so none of us can boast about it.”
‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭2:8-9‬

*****

The pups were interested in their Daddy's business this morning..

****
It was 16 degrees this morning when I went out to take care of the ducks and chickens...

...exactly how I felt!

*****

...first sign of trouble was when I discovered the outside faucet frozen solid...we forgot to turn the water off at the source...then Dad came out and asked if we were having plumbing problems...the tankless water heater was frozen... and Robbie's line popped off and was emptying where it wasn't supposed to :-) I think Lanny has it all fixed and ready for another cold night...

This is the most interesting thing...this particular plant (I don't know what it is) must ooze something in the night, and it froze into the prettiest forms...

The chickens and ducks were oblivious to the temperature...the ducks were swimming as soon as I broke the ice...

Max wasn't feeling well last night but he seems better today...long story, but we were worried about him...

I don't often get all five eating at one time in one picture...but they were hungry today.

I picked up Sadie at the bus and she spent the afternoon with us. She loves spending time with the horses and playing with the pups. We love having her.

She and I stopped by Food City and picked up fixings for dinner...we had Fish Planks, Chicken Strips, French Fries and Macaroni and Cheese...yum!

Sadie has been picked up, I'm in my jammies and waiting for the feature film...tonight it is "The Ten Commandments"...last night we watched "Eagle Eye"...totally unrelated but a favorite... Lanny doesn't have to go to church tonight...Shawn is covering for him. He was tired after all the plumbing today :-)

We will snuggle with the pups (and possibly a cat), eat some popcorn and enjoy the movie. This time of year we start watching our Biblical movies leading up to Christmas stories like Nativity, the Robe, etc...I love Christmas time!!

Goodnight Y'all...

A Day in the Life / Tuesday, December 1

Quiet Time....

“Therefore, since we have been made right in God’s sight by faith, we have peace with God because of what Jesus Christ our Lord has done for us”
Romans 5:1

*******

Not much accomplished today...it is just TOO cold to do anything outside... I have to get the ducks and chickens taken care of, but I do it as quick as I can :-)

Lanny and I went down the hill to Home Depot, Aldi's and Walmart...we are always stocking our pantry...

We took a little cat nap and then I started dinner...not Family Night Dinner, even tho it is a Tuesday. We decided to take a two week quarantine time since we did have a big gathering last week for Thanksgiving. No one is sick but better safe than sorry. We have several "at risk" family members.

I made pintos, cornbread, fried taters and spinach for dinner and fixed a take out box for Rob and Molly to enjoy in their own kitchen...

I am in my jammies with a full belly and ready for a movie...we watched Sparticus last night....I'll let you know what the feature is for tonight...

Goodnight Y'all...

Friday on the Mountain... September 12
