Saturday on our Wind Blown, Flooded Farm :-) ... July 9

Quiet Time...

This is what caused all the trouble yesterday...

there was hail and super high winds up on our hill 

so if not a baby tornado it was a super duper wind BURST!!

A tree was twisted and fell on some lines, pulling the pole down...

Johnson Gap was blocked...

And the lines were laying on our driveway and all the way up the neighbors driveway...

That is the bottom of our drive... the police had it all blocked off..

We were without power from before 5 until around 11... that was not a problem for Lanny and me... we go to bed before dark anyway. But Mom and Dad like to stay up later and watch TV. So we had to make sure they had plenty of emergency lighting. They both have trouble reading so that was out... We have the E Bulbs that come on when the power goes off and also motion battery operated lighting in the halls and in their bathroom... but as the time wore on the bulbs were getting dim 

and they ended up getting in the bed at dark. 

Not sure if they slept, but at least they were in a safe spot.

When the lights came back on Daddy got up to do his night shift :-) 

I am sure he watched TV and ate his goodies...

He wasn't up when I got up so I got everything ready for him 

and sat down for some Quiet Time with my pack...

It was raining HARD again so Mitzi was suffering.

I was suffering a bit myself, because that just meant that the drain field was flooding and there would be NO toilet or kitchen sink...

I made the bed and fed my fur babies and went out to let the chickies and ducks out...

Last night I had gone out when the rain let up, earlier than they are used to going in, and called them all into the coop with some treats. They were running around eating and I thought I had counted them all when I shut the coop door...

Well, this morning when I went out Goldie was OUTSIDE the coop door giving me that look! She had been out ALL NIGHT!!! Her own fault, and I told her so, but she was a bit tiffed. Hopefully she will have learned a valuable lesson. She and Sugar are often out messing around when I go out to shut their door. I have to run them in nearly every night. I will let you know is she learned anything :-)

They were waiting around the gate all morning hoping for treats...

I gave Daddy a donut for 8 AM breakfast because I didn't want to dirty up a bunch of dishes that I couldn't wash, and Lanny went right to work on the sink... 

he gray watered my sink and dishwasher over the hillside.

 It was going into the septic and whenever we have the field line flooding 

I was dead in the water. This way I can still use my kitchen when this happens. 

The toilet part we can deal with...

For lunch I made us some MeatBall Sandwiches with the meatballs that were left over from my canning yesterday. Oh, before the drama of last night 

I canned 14 pints of Meatballs....

After lunch we sat down for a rest with the pups...

Lanny lived up to his title of Handy Man Extraordinaire today!!!

I know he can do most anything but it is still impressive when he does it!!

Goldie, Popcorn, Sugar, Willow and Amber...

and both ducks laid this morning before I let them out...

Penny's egg had been pecked however, 

so I had to give it to the chickens to finish up...

I am having to do some interesting things to get this blog up... we have no internet and I am having to hotspot my phone, but the photos only go across the devices with wifi, so I am putting the photos in on the phone and then typing on the computer. The problem is that the photos pop in random and not in order...Anyway, I will get it done, it just might not be as many photos as usual until the wifi is fixed on Tuesday.

For supper I made an ad lib Mexican Pizza... some Chicken I had canned, Refried Beans, Black Beans on three layered Giant Tortillas... didn't have Mexican shredded cheese so used American, but it tasted fine...

Make do!!

Lanny cleaned up the back yard, I cleaned up the kitchen, 

and put the chicken feed away...

tonight I will make sure Goldie is IN the coop before I close the doors :-)

No internet so we cannot watch Picard or Star Trek, but we can watch our movies...

no telling what Lanny will pick.

I will let you know tomorrow!!

We were going to go to a Club Dance Reunion/Get Together tonight 

but that didn't really work out for us... 

too much going on around here. Perhaps next time...
