Quiet Time...
Honour thy father and mother;
which is the first commandment with promise;
that it may be well with thee,
and thou mayest live long on the earth.
Ephesians 6:2-3 KJV
*****
Good morning!!
Dad's light was on when I came into the living room
but by the time I got everything together
he had gone back to bed...
didn't get up until around 6!
So I was able to snuggle in with my Pack
and sit thru the entire Quiet Time
with no interruptions!!!
BLISS!!
She was obviously enjoying herself as well...
No changes in the Greens Room...
Just watering, inspecting, etc.
Ready to really start my day...
Several of you have asked me about my routine...
After Bible Study Time, around 5:45 or so,
I take care of the Microgreens, make the bed
and feed the fur kids.
Then at dawn I go out to the Barnyard...
I say Hi to the Goats but don't let them out just yet..
The chickens and ducks get out first...
They rush out in a mad dash...
I give them some Sunflower Seeds and Scratch Grains
tossed around in front of their coop...
they like to scratch and peck...
The ducks often go for a short swim first thing...
Then I let the goats out...
I fill their food bowls with the Goat Feed
but they also like the Scratch and Sunflower Seeds
so they go back and forth between them...
the chickens love the goat feed
and it is impossible to keep them out of it...
since it won't really hurt them
I just let them do their own thing...
Then I clean the Goat house floor...
I pick up any big clumps of poo
but otherwise just turn it over in the mulch...
it is called Deep Litter Method and works great for us...
it composts over time
and just makes nice rich soil under there,,,
The Goat Droppings are mostly pelleted anyway
and mix right in with the mulch...
I toss the larger clumps and bits of hay into the garden
and distribute it around the plants...
I also turn the chicken mulch every morning...
the chickens mostly roost on the upper roost
so the droppings are concentrated under it...
We have been doing the Deep Litter Method
for years and it works great for us...
no need to do a lot of scooping or hauling...
just turn it under and treat it like compost...
Then I give the Bunnies some food and top off their water....
I give them hay if they are low and scoop any droppings...
Blossom lost all 7 of her kits...
I don't think she was ready...
she either stepped on them
or just covered them up with the fur and hay
and ignored them...
We will try again with her in the fall...
it is just too hot right now...
Violet
We are getting a few soldier fly grubs already...
they LOVE the grubs...
I backwash the Duck Pond filter every morning...
I also have to clean the pre-filter
but usually do that a little later in the day...
And all the while, I am watching all the critters
interact with each other...
they are all so adorable...
but especially the Goats :-)
Morning Turtle Bath...
I check on the turtles every day
and give them fresh water in their bathtub :-)
Every other day I put the food I mixed up
in the feeding area.
They are getting better about coming out when I put it down...
And of course, fish are little beggars
and always are ready for their morning feeding!
Lanny deadheaded the roses and brought them out to the Goats...
they love the petals AND the hips!
Every other day I water the potted outdoor plants...
I don't water the inground unless it is super dry, but the potted ones need water every other day in this heat and sun...
Little Tree Swallow Momma...
she refuses to leave them...
I wish they would ALL lay right there...
I had two eggs there, one in the Goat House and one just laying out in the yard again...
Cutting Milk Duds in half to put into the Freeze Dryer...
They warm for a few minutes until a bit soft and then when the vacuum comes on it pulls out all moisture and expands the caramel and chocolate so that it is a puff... just melts in your mouth. VERY yummy!!
Takes about four hours to pull out the moisture and then dry...
Lanny brought the kids some wine berry branches...
the deer LOVE 'EM and so do the kids!!
Sparkley Day...
And berries for whoever wants them...
Lanny brought them some more worms...
all you have to do is scoop a gallon of the aged horse manure and you have literally hundreds of worms...
just the treat for the feathered kids...
Lanny and I went down the hill to the CoOp for some Goat Feed and some Basil plants...
passed the camels on the way...
Poor little girl...
she needs to learn to relax...
Dad meandered out to pet the Goats...
it makes me VERY nervous for him to go out there.
It's only 10-15 feet but on a walker
it is treacherous...
but he made it...
And the Goats rewarded his efforts...
For supper we had Rotisserie Chicken, Fries
and Mexican Mixed Veggies with Garlic Toast...
Pudding and Graham Crackers for Dessert...
This day is over...
time to head for the house...
Tonight we will watch Air Force One
Harrison Ford...
I know we watch the same movies over and over
but that is the way we like it!
We aren't really "watching a movie"
we are sitting with each other
and with our fur kids
enjoying each other's company...
Goodnight Y'all...
God Bless
and
Sweet Dreams!
