Monday on the Snowy Mountain ... January 3

Quiet Time...

“do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”

‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬

*****

Mom and Dad were up all night because their older dog Skipper had several seizures during the night ...they didn't get me up... it wore them out!!
So Dad was in the bed when I got up at 3:45...

It was really quite pretty...for a minute or two...

Waiting for their Daddy to get up and come to the couch...

Didn't take long...

Murphy loves the fire...

Max loves to sit above the fire and go behind the TV...
I play iHeart Radio on the TV and Max thinks we want to look at him
instead of the Soundscape images :-)

The dogs take turns on the fire bench...

Dad got up about 6 so I took care of him: meds, socks, coffee, Breakfast Burrito :-)
I changed our sheets and threw some laundry in the washer.
Fed the dogs and kitty... Skipper had a bad seizure before breakfast but he ate...
he was not himself tho, and went all around to the bowls trying to eat from each one...he was pacing and running into things... I knew I would have to take him to the vet..

Went out at sunup to take care of the chicks and ducks...

This was about all the snow we got...

And one duck egg..

Skipper had several more very severe seizures and the other 4 dogs were so concerned...they knew he was in trouble... it was so hard to watch him...
Paula and I tried to find a vet and all were so busy, but finally Anderson County Veterinary said to bring him right down...we were so thankful. I loaded him up and went down the hill.
Skipper was at least 12-13 years old and probably older. He had been having seizures since Mom and Dad got him in 2010 but never as bad as these. Anyway, he went to sleep and across the Rainbow Bridge at 10 AM. I held him and loved him over to the other side. Mom and Dad will miss him so much...we all will.

I made some Ham Sandwiches for the men when I got home. Paula had to take Mom to Parkwest for her PET scan at noon so she couldn't eat. We will know Wednesday what the plans are for the mass in her lung.

Paula ate the other half of Daddy's sandwich before they headed out...
She had an audience, of course. But only four now...

Lanny and I sat down with the fur kids after they left...

Could she be any cuter?!

The dogs (especially Casey) waiting for Mom to get home...

We had Pork and Gravy over Egg Noodles and Spinach for Supper...

Then we headed down the hill to get our rooster...
When we pulled up this is what we saw... Wendy had gone up to the coop and scooped him up...
he does not mind being held... my heart is happy!!!

...look how beautiful he is... and he doesn't even have his spurs or his tail yet!!

The girls were in the boxes and on the roost when we got home,
so we sat him on the other roost and walked away.
They made some of the sweetest little coo noises but when I looked at the camera a bit later he was trying to get amorous in the dark...they were not interested..
I hope no one gets injured in the night :-)
I'll report tomorrow...

Good night Y'all...
What a day... joy, sadness, joy...
God is good.

We will watch more of The Chosen ands probably have some popcorn...

Sweet Dreams
and
God bless us, Every One!!

Sunday, The Lord's Day, in the Misty Mountains... January 2

Quiet Time...

“Your Word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”

‭‭Psalm‬ ‭119:105

*****
Dad was in the bed when I got up...

Lanny got up about 4 and joined me on the couch with all the pack... Max included :-)

Dad got up around 5... I got his inhaler, his meds, his coffee and a Sausage, Egg and Cheese Croissant...

Then I headed back to the couch until 6...
We are such creatures of routine over here...
Make the bed, feed the fur kids, piddle in the kitchen and then outside at daybreak...

One egg a day... I sure need a couple more ducks...

The fish move around a little when the temperature is above 50 or so.
But I still don't feed them.

Maggie and Mitzi like to wallow on Grandma's bed :-)

...or, laze around on the couch...

We had Hamburgers, Baked Beans, Chips and Panettone for Sunday Dinner...

Fed the fur kids at 2pm...

...and Maggie is fed a bit separated from the others so she isn't rude :-)

After I fed the kids, we all hit the couch for a Sunday nap...

Lanny had to go back to church at 5 so I made Chicken Noodle Soup for the three of them (I am not really hungry after two hamburgers at lunch :-))

He picked up the puppy landmines and I put the chicks and ducks to bed before the rain started.

*****

Tomorrow we will go pick up the new rooster... a little Bantam Buckeye, 2.5 pounds.
I cannot wait to see him. This is a picture the owner (names Wendy) sent me of him... he was young here so probably has a more defined tail now... but will not have the comb and waddle that Willie had... actually a benefit. The comb and waddle have a tendency to get frost bite in really cold weather so these are very cold hardy birds. I am going to get some chicks from Wendy's spring hatch... I am SO excited!! My two Black Maran's are too old but my Aracauna is only 2 so perhaps I will have some chicks of my own...

So, I am watching some old Star Treks as I finish this post...
Probably no movie tonight... Lanny won't get home til 7:30...

Goodnight Y'all...
God bless and Sweet Dreams!

New Years Day! on the Mountain... January 1

Quiet Time...

““But forget all that— it is nothing compared to what I am going to do. For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it? I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”

‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭43:18-19‬

*****
Last nights little beggars...they LOVE ice cream :-)
Look at those pleading eyes...
yes, I give them some :-)

*****

Dad was up...that sounds like a broken record, doesn't it :-)
Took care of his morning business and made him a Breakfast Burrito and headed for the couch...

Lanny got up around 5 and joined me, along with all the fur kids...

Including Max...

I fed the pups and kitty at 6 and threw in a load of clothes,
then started in on cleaning the kitchen...
...at daybreak I went out to release the little prisoners :-)

A sweet little duck egg in the duck house...

Made Sausage Patties and an Omelette with Toast for the men...

Then dove back in to the kitchen... have you ever heard the old saying that whatever you are doing on New Years Day is what you will be doing all year? Well, I figured, why fight it... I KNOW I will be cooking and cleaning and caring for dogs and chickens ALL YEAR so why not just give in :-)

Anyway, my kitchen is sanitized and deodorized...  l love the Meyer's products.
All plant based and they smell SO good!

It's probably hard to tell from pictures, but I KNOW it's done...

Grilled the burger patties for tomorrow's Hamburger Sunday Dinner...
tomorrow I will warm them gently in Onion Soup and they are moist and delicious!

Look at that sky out the big bay doors!!

Made 24...

Made us some Ramen with Chopped Broccoli for lunch...

We decided to give our Above Ground Pool away... we were only in it twice last year... no kids around and we are always so busy... anyway, I was going to post it in the spring but just got the bug this afternoon and posted it on Marketplace... in only a few seconds I was getting loads of messages... I was a little nervous to just say come on over and look but one inquiry caught my eye... this is a God thing... the sweetest couple, with 7 kids and one on the way, wanting a pool SO bad!!! Well, the couple came over, and it's a done deal! I am so thrilled. They will love it as we always did when all the kids were around... God is so good!!

Marketplace would not let me list it free so I had to say $1,
but that couple gets it free!!

SOLD!

For supper we had Pork Loin, Spinach, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy, Crescent Rolls and Panettone Bread...
Kinda New Yearsy...

Kitchen is clean, the fowl kids are snug as bugs in rugs, the puppy yard art is discarded, we are in our jammies and ready to settle down for another couple episodes of The Chosen...

Goodnight Dear Friends and Family...
God's sweetest blessings on your New Year...

Sweet Dreams...

Friday on the Mountain... September 12

Quiet Time in Bible Study... 🍁 “Instead, you must worship Christ as Lord of your life. And if someone asks about your hope as a believer...
