I overslept :-)
Time for Prayer and Study...
Had to do a lot of inside chores this morning because we were heading over to Jennifer's to process chickens at 8am. I had to decant the Sparkley (water kefir) and the milk kefir as well. Made some tuna salad for Mom and Dad's lunch, made beds and got Mom and Dad situated with their coffee and medicines...
...then headed out to the chicks and ducks...
We made it over to Jen's around 9 (it's a long drive) and went right to work.
Her family has been sick and she just needed to get the last of the meat birds processed and out of her hair.
Lanny and Toby handled "the kill"...humanely, of course.
Toby was catching (chasing) the birds...
The men did the scalding and plucking (using machines)...
Jennifer had NOT intended to have much to do with this (that was the whole point) but we are such novices. She had to help us a bit :-)
I LOVE science!
Look, even a live soldier fly grub was in this ones innards...
Who knew!
Gutting chickens is very hard work!
Lanny went over to Danny's after our nap.
I fed the fur kids...
Checked the nesting boxes and only one chicken egg...
And I made some pickled eggs...never tried it before but they smell great.
After they sit in the brine in the fridge for a week we shall see.
I fed Mom and Dad some left over "StewGhetti" I had in the freezer. It was just as good as the first time.
The yard is cleared of Puppy Landmines, the chicks and ducks are in bed for the night and we are in our Jammies ready to watch Wizard of Oz... go figure :-)
