Wednesday on Walden's Mountain... January 17

Quiet Time...

I love this verse...
one of my very favorites!

“When I consider Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast ordained; What is man, that Thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that Thou visitest him?”
Psalm 8:3-4

*****
Good Morning Wednesday!
Boy, it is way beyond COLD!
AND...
our pipes are frozen...
no water...

I did the fire today...
but it is SO cold outside
we have not been able to get the house above 70...
and my humidity is 20% even with a humidifier!!

Even at 0 degrees they are sleeping in the doorway!

Doggies are happy...

This day has been all messed up...
with no water I am all off schedule...
I did take care of the Greens but not in the correct order...
yea, I am a "schedule" person...
a "routine" person...
and when I was younger
I could do a LOT of things at once,
but these days my list has to be shorter :-)

Anyway, time to head out to the
COLD Barnyard...
It was Zero when I got up, at least it is up 4 degrees :-)

The chickens and ducks are pretty snug
except that the ducks are SO filthy!
They gargle in the water so within a few minutes
the nice clean water I hauled out is like mud!!!
I get really annoyed with them on days like this...
I told them I was going to throw them over the fence
to fend for themselves if they didn't quit it...
they just QUACK LAUGHED!!!

The Goats have all they need in their nice little House...
even a chicken or two to clean up any grain they drop :-)
AND, to lay an egg or two.
The hens LOVE laying eggs in the Goat House...

The poor little wild birds were frantic
looking for corn and sunflower seed
that I usually throw out here for the chickens...
but since the chickens were not out here I put it in the coop...
had to give the birds their own pile on the storage box...
they were very happy about it!

The Goats are not real happy with the snow
but Baby is handling it a lot better than Fiona...
Fiona is very Leary of that white stuff!!

Brave Baby made the first move...

The chickies are getting a little sunshine...

And the goats as well..

It is still so cold...
I am sure the sun won't melt any snow today...

Dogs are happy...

Well, Fiona finally ventured out!!!
Hay on the platform and nice warm sunshine :-)

It is nearly 1 pm and still no water...
however, one of the pipes exploded when it thawed
so we are at least getting LIQUID water and not solid :-)
Lanny can fix that!!

Hopefully I will have running water by this evening...
Dang, can't even do take out in this weather :-)
I will still have to cook!!!

I put the Goats water on a cinder block
and the ducks cannot reach it
so I allowed them to enter... :-)

Baby discovered the stash for the wild birds...
little stinker!!

Fiona walks on the snow like she is tip toe...
I don't think she likes the feel of it...

Lanny has heaters and heat guns
and heat lamps going on the pipes out here...

And I am out without a coat, hat, gloves or boots
giving my girls some molasses water...

It takes longer to put all that stuff on
than it does for me to do what I needed to do out there...
I am tough :-)

We have hot water and now he is working on the cold water...

He is working now on the busted pipe...
I am so thankful that my man can fix just about anything!!
We finally had hot AND cold water around 3...
so I still had time to fix dinner :-)

We had some comfort food...
Pork Loin and Gravy over a bed of
Rice with Mixed Veggies and Peppers...
YUM!

All the critters are tucked in and ready for another cold night...
not as cold as last night, or so they say :-)

Tonight we will watch
"Through the Gates of Splendor"
a documentary by Elisabeth Elliot
about the Auca Indians and the missionaries that were killed
(we watched the movie last night)...

Goodnight Family and Friends...
God Bless you ALL
and
Sleep Tight!
