Evening Update:
Lanny's blood sugar is still pretty high (480), but the nurse seems to think that is affected by the steroids he was taking with the COVID. Also all the fluids and antibiotics. The insulin he is taking is not fast acting, it may take a day or so as the steroids get out of his system. His blood pressure is holding and he is eating very well...day by day... he is still very weak, and cannot be off the oxygen for very long before is O2 levels go way down...
Dad may get to come home tomorrow, but most likely Friday. We got his bed today, a wheelchair and a bedside commode...we are ready :-) He is past all COVID issues and his oxygen requirement is about where it was before. His problem is that he will not eat. Pray that he gets his appetite back...

Paula picked up the insulin last night and he had his first injection around 9 PM. Blood sugar went from 538 to 414 this morning...going in the right direction. His blood pressure is also up closer to normal, so all is well. He says he feels great and he is eating and drinking. Still relying on the oxygen...his blood oxygen goes down quickly when he takes it off, so I'm sure he will have to spend several more days (at least) on the oxygen.
I will update on Dad when I hear from his doctor.
Delivery of his hospital bed and wheelchair will be today and at last report, he may get to come home tomorrow.
